I absolutely hate this feature. I checking "Allow Starting in Reading
Layout" but it keeps coming back like a bad cold. Usually when I have received a file from someone. Anyone know how to make this disappear forever? |

Er Duh. Obviously you did NOT read my entire text. You repeated the most
obvious answer, which I stated I already knew. It keeps coming back. In scanning through threads on this board it should be obvious to everyone at Microsoft that Reading Layout View was a bad idea and should definitely NOT be a primary feature. Bury it somewhere, please. Then the few who use it can get to it and those of us who are annoyed by it don't ever have to see it again. It's like a dominant genetic deformity that keeps cropping up when least expected. If there is no answer to total and permanent disable, then just say that. Don't keep playing back the obvious answer which hasn't satisfied anyone on any of the other threads either. "garfield-n-odie" wrote: UNcheck "Allow starting in Reading Layout". You have cheated a bit here by editing your (quoted) initial post, in which
you did *not* write "I uncheck 'Allow Starting in Reading Layout' but it keeps coming back like a bad cold." What you actually wrote was "I checking 'Allow Starting in Reading Layout' but it keeps coming back like a bad cold," which was ambiguous, to say the least. -- Suzanne S. That's true. Caught me there, ponie soldier. I realized after posting that
I had mistated. Had a choice to either delete and re-post, which I didn't have the time to figure out, or wait until a reply. My mistake. I still have the issue, though. Any ideas, Ms Barnhill? Aside from unchecking 'Allow Starting in Reading Layout' , that is. "Suzanne S. This is an Options setting, and clearly Word is not saving it. When Word
balks at saving your settings, there are two common explanations: 1. The Registry key is damaged; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm 2. An add-in that loads at startup is changing your settings; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...sInstalled.htm -- Suzanne S. You obviously know everything, except for what you actually said
in your original post, so I won't waste any more time trying to help the likes of you. Coaster Man wrote: Er Duh. Obviously you did NOT read my entire text.
