Hello,

Two questions.

1.As far as I can tell the only way to remove gridlines is to go to table
Hide gridlines. This has to be set by the indvidual user. Is there any way
for the "Hide Gridlines" option to be set by default when the .dot file opens?

2. Right now my form field bookmarks are really small. So a user can tab
through the form field bookmarks and enter information, but if they do not
click in the exact location of the bookmark the field will not become
selected. Is there a way to expand the form field bookmark brackets so the
user has more space to click in while selecting a form field?

the first works great. however if i go to Toolsoptionsdisplay bookmarks,
then add spaces inside of the bookmark the bookmark expands. When I then
click the protect document button the bookmark snaps back to is small
original size. Any more ideas?

You're adding the spaces in the wrong place. Select the form field and
double-click it or use the Properties button on the forms toolbar to
open the Properties dialog. Type the nonbreaking spaces
(Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) into the Default Text box in the dialog.

The bookmark really doesn't have anything to do with the way the form
field displays or operates. It serves more as a name for the field
when you want to manipulate it in a macro.

Again thank you for the ideas. Essientially what I want is if the user
clicks anywere inside of this form field, their cursor will snap to the upper
left hand corner where they can begin typeing. Adding the spaces the way you
described will open up the clickable area, but when you input text the text
will begin typing where you have clicked, and this can result in the pushing
of the table borders. Perhaps a macro would resolve this? If so, where would

Sorry, this isn't going to solve all your problems. If you set the
default text in the Properties dialog, then clicking won't select the
whole field (but double-clicking it will). If you don't set the
default text, then the field won't be wider.

I have to ask, though: In the copies of Word 2000 and Word 2003 that I
have here, a newly inserted text form field is five spaces wide, or
almost 0.5 inch. Is that what you see? If so, why is that so hard to
hit with a mouse click?

I noticed that the double clicking works. I wonder if you can change that to
a single click, then that would be the answer. Yes the form field is almost a
..5 inch, but the size of the space to type in is much larger. For some reason
the sales staff I am building this form for cannot be trusted to use the form
if they have to click in the upper left hand corner of each box. I am not
sure why, it is just what the boss has asked of me, so I am trying to figure
it out. Thank you for all the help though, it is greatly appreciated.

You need to train the staff to tab from one field to another instead of
clicking.
