Default Do I need the Internet for Help in Word to work?

If I have a dial up connection, and I'm not connected to the internet when
requesting on-line Help, will I be asked if I want to connect to the Internet?

If you are using Office 2003, then the answer is basically yes.

When I ask for Online help (and I'm not connected, I have a broadband
internet connection) nothing happens, I am not asked to connect, so I am
wondering if the same thing happens if I had a dial up connection.

Online help only accesses the internet when you are on-line (you can change
the level of access from the Help task pane).
