I was typing a word document and the top half of the document has changed
into lines of little small boxes and different characters. How do I change it back into readable text again. |

Check the font for the text which contains your lines and small boxes.
I would hazard a guess that the font is now a Wingdings or some other character font. Select the offending text and convert the font back to what you are typing.
