I have to create a report template for several of us to use.
I want to take the title entered on the front page and automatically put it into the header on all the other pages. I tired setting the title on the front page to be the 'title' field (which comes from the document summary) and the header to the same thing (thie 'title' field) but that didn't seem to work. Any suggestions? |

You can insert a DOCPROPERTY field in the header to refer to the
Title field from the document summary, or you can insert a STYLEREF field in the header to refer to the title on the front page if you format the title with a unique paragraph style. It works for me, but you do have to have some mechanism for writing the
title to the Title field in the Properties before inserting it in the document as a Title field. The suggestion of using a StyleRef field you may find easier, using the Title style for your title and referencing it in the StyleRef field. This method has the advantage, too, that a StyleRef field will update automatically, which a Title or DocProperty field may not do. -- Suzanne S.
