I read the various questions and answers and did not find an answer to this:
when converting a Word 2003 document into a .pdf file, the measurement units
change to points? In Word, we checked the ToolsOptionsGeneral and the
measurement units are set at inches but as soon as we create a .pdf file
(using the Acrobat Reader), it changes the units.

Acrobat Reader cannot create PDF files? If you have the very old version
that included PDFwriter then this is probably incompatible with Word 2003.
