Sharing the Normal Template
We have all sorts of macros and styles and auto-text entries in our
Normal.dot. At the moment, we are sharing it. What i mean is that there are two copies of Word and we specified the same template folder for both. That is fine, except for if both copies are being used at one time. Then, we can't save changes to normal.dot. I understand that I could just use the Organizer to move individual macros and styles to a separate Normal template for the second computer, but if I do that, each time that a style or a macro gets modified on one machine, the user would have to remember to manually copy it to the other Normal template. Is there some way that I can have several machines all sharing the same macros, styles, auto-text, etc. with any changes to these being shared on all the machines? Thanks in advance. Martin |

Sharing the Normal Template
Normal.dot is designed to be personal, not shared. You can, though, share
other templates that are global (i.e. not connected to a specific document). See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup.
