Default saving backup documents

I understand the functions and limitations of auto recovery and save backup.
Is it possible to change the directory/hard drive where the backup file is
saved?
I have Office version 2002 and 2003.

Thanks

I've come to believe that _nothing_ is impossible, but I know of no way to do
so through any standard settings/features of the program. The directory for
autorecover files can be changed, but (AFAIK) the backup must be written to
the same folder as the original.

I was having a problem with recovering a file & used the office assistant &
found this. Hope it's helpful!

Specify a location for automatically recovered files
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the File Locations tab.
In the File types box, click AutoRecover files.
Click Modify.
If you want to store automatically recovered files in a different folder,
locate and open the folder.
