Default cursor/pointer disappears

When I use a particular template I have made for my letterhead, after I type
the first line in my new document (below the letterhead), my cursor/pointer
disappears and I cannot tell where my cursor is. Why does this happen and
how can I change it?

Probably by creating your letterhead properly (though it's just a guess).

Anne: Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the referenced article did
not resolve my problem with the pointer/cursor disappearing on the existing
template. (I may end up starting from scratch and see if the problem
reappears, but in that I did create the original template just as that
article directed, I am hoping that someone can tell me more about controlling
the cursor characteristics. Again, thank you for your time.

Default cursor/pointer disappears

The thing that normally makes the cursor disappear is that it has strayed
into text which is not displayed.

For example the second line of a table cell which has not been allowed to
expand. So, might you be typing in a table cell which has a row height set
to Exactly the height of one line of text?

Or, possibly, a graphic set to "In front of text".

Enjoy,

Default cursor/pointer disappears

Thanks, Tony. How do I find out if there is a table cell lurking about? I
have some kind of cell for my letterhead titles (i.e., name, address, etc.),
a box to put text in, but as far as I know I did not create any other tables
or cells, and the cursor disappears when I have started typing in the text
(i.e. the date, then name and address of the addressee). I was also getting
extra spacing when I hit the enter button (which I can get out of by
reformatting, but it sometimes comes back if I move the cursor with up and
down arrows or use the enter key). That and the font and size keeps changing
back to some default font I know I didn't select. I think most of my
problems stem from not being able to tell what is hidden. Is there a way to
find out? Obviously I need a lot of help; know any good books for Word (I
have Office for Dummies.)
