Default Why would you use webdings?

Can someone please explain to me why some of the fonts in Microsoft are
symbols instead of letters? I do no understand why you would use these font
selections.

Because you want to insert the pictures that those files contain? For
example, you may want a bullet that's something different from a small round
or square bullet, or you may want to place a phone icon beside your phone
number. It's an easy way to insert simple, scalable art. Get creative!
