Default MS Office 2003 I use word but when i reopen the doc it is wordpad

I got a new desktop and after i installed the office 2003 and open my word
docs it trys to save them as wordpad doc instead of word. weird i know but i
can't figure it out. I can go to word and open the doc and it brings it into
word but if I doulbe click on it, it opens wordpad instead.

Try reregistering Word. See
