I need to do a document where the supplicant enters his/her name, and this
name reprinted in the footer. I don't want to mess with VB, if possible. Can it be done? BR, Magnus Jingryd |

Several ways: read help on document properties and DocProperty fields, and
on bookmarks and Ref fields. "Magnus Jingryd" Magnus wrote in message ... I need to do a document where the supplicant enters his/her name, and this name reprinted in the footer. I don't want to mess with VB, if possible. Can it be done? BR, Magnus Jingryd |

Excellent, thanks Stefan!
I had messed about with the REF, SET and other commands without being able to make them work. Sorry, but there seems to be a problem with REF in footers.
When I put { REF Qname } in my footer and then protects the form, the field code disappears. Any ideas? If you use a REF field in a footer then in order for it to update you need
to run an update macro (there's one at http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm ) on exit from the form field you want to cross reference. Alternatively you can apply a unique character style (which can be formatted the same as the underlying style - only the name being different) to the form field and use a Styleref field in the footer. Stylerefs will update automatically. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Magnus Jingryd wrote: Sorry, but there seems to be a problem with REF in footers. From the FAQ
19. Since it appears from the rest of the thread that a protected form is
involved, what you need is a StyleRef field; see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm -- Suzanne S.
