Default Docs taking forever to load pics

I hve a user here that opens up a "how to" with some screenshots in it, i've
compressed and cut the cropping area if any and it still takes forever. The
file is only 338K. I can open it just fime in my Word. Both 2003, SP-2. Dunno
what's going on. The sys in question has more than enough jam to do it. P4
3.2, 1GB RAM, 128 MB Video.

TIA,
Kevin M

Hi Kevin:

As you say, they have plenty of RAM, Video RAM, and processing power.

The next place to look would be "What else is that user running?" Do a
power-off reboot and try again: they could have their memory polluted with
all manner of dead processes if they haven't logged off for a while.

Try disabling the antivirus temporarily: it may be taking a while to examine
the document.

Clean out the TEMP directory and defrag the hard disk: it may be that the
machine is struggling to create temporary files.

Other than that, you will have to get into Performance Monitor and analyse
exactly what's going on.

Cheers
