There are ways around that. Printing it to a .pdf file will do it every
time. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "teachlit" wrote in message ... i want to limit my users to one hard copy of any document sent to the printer. How can i do this? |

Unless the PDF is protected from printing (entirely), though, can't they
still print multiple copies? -- Suzanne S. What I meant was that if someone creates a document with Word and does
something that will only allow me to print the Word doc once, I can create a ..pdf with it and print as many copies as I want. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "Suzanne S. I hope you realize that taking the one printed copy to a Xerox machine is both faster and cheaper than printing multiple copies from Word. In other words, if the users want many copies, you're doing them a favor! That issue aside, there's no way to do what you want. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

I've been reading here for years and witmessing the testimony that Word is capable of most anything from changing baby diapers to shingling the roof ;-) There are PDF e-book softwares designed for this type of use. They just are NOT CHEAP or intended for casual use. |

how can i limit printing to one hard copy?
Hi Don:
Well, it is "Technically possible" to do this task in Word. You can intercept the outgoing Print command and set the "Number of copies" field to "1". However, the reason the others suggested that it is not practicable to do this is that there is a wide variety of ways the users can work around the limitation.
