I have created hyperlinks on a web page which are to be used to to open a
linked template as a new document. Unfortunately the link opens the template.dot file and does not creat a blank document using the template. Is there a way in which the action of the hyperlink could e changed to create a new document using the template rather than open the template ? I am using Office 2003 on an XP machine If anyone could help I would be very grateful. Regards |

Hi ?B?UENPTUFO?=,
I have created hyperlinks on a web page which are to be used to to open a linked template as a new document. Unfortunately the link opens the template.dot file and does not creat a blank document using the template. Is there a way in which the action of the hyperlink could e changed to create a new document using the template rather than open the template ? this is how hyperlinks are designed to work. To force a new document from a template you need to use Script (Java or VBScript). Best to discuss this in a group that deals in scripting web pages; one for the webpage editor you're using, if possible. The code will need to automate the Word application, sending a Documents.Add("Path\Filename.dot") command to it.
