The horizontal ruler above the page shows the indent marker, hanging indent
marker, margins, and each tab marker you insert. Having the tab markers and hanging indent marker on the same section of the ruler means that when they're in the same position, you can only choose one of them, and the tab marker is always overtop of the hanging indent marker. As a result, one must move the tab marker over, move the hanging indent marker, then move the tab marker back over. This problem is made worse when the tab marker is to be returned to a non-interval position (e.g. 1.59 cm instead of 1.5 cm), and one cannot even place the tab marker back, one must specify 1.59 once again in the tab stops menu. All of this could be avoided by placing them on separate lines, or by using ctrl+click to isolate the hanging indent marker, or some similar solution. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. In answer to part of your suggestion, you can place tab stops precisely if
you press Alt while dragging. -- Suzanne S.
