Default Text is not dissapearing when I highlight & try to write over it.

Why can I not write over what I highlight in Microsoft word. I am always
able to do that, except at this computer, and cannot figure out why. Instead
of typing over the highlighted text it just writes before it.. and it does
not matter if OVR is on or off.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Edit | check the "Typing
replaces selection" box | OK.
