Default template corrupted word, need to recover word software for Window

obtained template at an university for small business owners. Now whenever I
try to use word, it uses the template format. I can't get rid of it. Can I
get a recovery Word software? I'm using Windows 2000 professional. I really
need to get this plan written soon.

By the sounds of it, you overwrote normal.dot with your new template. Delete
it or rename it.

From the FAQ:

Dear Jezebel,

The first time I went under tool, customize and changed the normal which it
did work. After I opened the template again, it stopped working on all my
new word documents. Should I be changes the normal.dot somewhere else?

You don't make changes to normal.dot under tools customize. You change
your toolbars.

See the responses from Suzanne Barnhill and me.
