Numbering goes CRAZY after insert File
HELP!!!
I have 2 files. Both have lots of numbered lists that work great. However, when I open the first file and then insert the 2nd file at the end the numbers in the 2nd file all reset automatically to 1 through 285. So instead of starting at 1 for each topic the first page starts at 1 and keeps going through the entire document never resetting..just keeps going and going. I tried to reformat but its like a house of cards and numbers just go crazy no matter what I try. Any advice or quick fix would be appreciated. Thanks. Ken |

That's where the experts drop by, when they have time. You'll find some information here Margaret Aldis www.syntagma.demon.co.uk and here www.shaunakelly.com that might help you get things straightened out. I think that Margaret's approach, to set up the numbering with a "false" level 1 to force the restart of level 2 when needed, is probably going to be the best one.
