I have a new Dell PC with Office 2003 and Word 2003. When starting Word from
icon on desktop or programs menu, it all of a sudden started taking forever
to open. The Word rectangle appears in the middle of the screen but nothing
happens. Task manager does not show it running or not responding. Every other
program on the PC opens and closes without problem. I've tried deleting
normal.dot but that doesn't happen. When Word does open, it says it failed to
open properly last time and wants to know if you want to open it in SAFE
mode, in which case it will open with no problem but this does not happen
religiously.

Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do to fix this?

I forgot to state that I've run the repair option and uninstalled/reinstalled
office with no change.

If you have Norton AV, disable it's Office Plug-In.

I have free trial of NAV that came with the PC but have not
installed/activated it. Would this still apply or is there smething else I
need to do? Thanks.
