Default File locations (toolsoptions)

Dear group,

In Office 97 in File locations there´s a option ´user options´. That´s where
we store the user.ini. We are migrating to Office 2003, and when I look at
file locations there is no `user options`. Does anyone know why?

Recent versions of Word use the Registry instead. A summary is provided at
the end of "How to reset user options and registry settings in Microsoft
Office Word 2003, Microsoft Word 2002, and Microsoft Word 2000" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822005

You might want to see "How to change Word 2003 settings after you deploy
Word 2003 on multiple desktop computers" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=913762 (but ignore the part about
Normal.dot; you do NOT want to be messing with users' Normal.dot!). You

Hi Stefan,

There is no "user options" item because Word doesn't use it, nor does it use
the user.ini file. It was obsolete and ignored even in Word 97, as stated in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=191938. After Word 97 it was removed
completely. All user settings are stored in the registry.
