I am using Word 2003. I am editing a very large document with many figures
and am numbering figures by chapter (e.g., 2.3, 2.4, etc.) The Figure captions were being number correctly at Figure 4.12 but when I inserted the caption for figure 4.13, the caption dialogue box showed the Figure number to be 4.1. When I clicked ok, what was entered was Figure 0.1. The chapter number was reset to 0 and the figure number was reset to 1 right in the middle of the chapter for no apparent reason. I was not able to reset caption number to display Figure 4.13. How do I re-establish the correct sequence for both the chapter number and figure number? -- Thanks for your help. Doug Buckhorn, ON |
