Default How do I save changes to the "normal" style?

Somehow my "normal" style has changed and now has a "column" style, which is
very annoying. I have tried to make changes as I would have in the past but
it does not change the "default" setting.
Also, when I open a new document with the "normal" style and then his
"return", it changes the style to "normal2". I have deleted "normal2" style
but it still shows up every time I open a new document/page.
