add-ins
How do I permanently delete add-ins? When I do delete them (pdfmaker and
endnote) on the tools templates and add-ins box, they reappear they next time I come into Word? The delete button is grayed out there too, I can only uncheck them for one time, not delete them? -- JRF |

add-ins
Unchecking them in the Templates and Add-ins dialog just unloads them for
the current session. To keep them from loading in the first place, you have to remove them from Word's Startup folder (or wherever they are--you can get the path from the dialog). -- Suzanne S. add-ins
Look in the Tools Options File Locations dialog to find out where the
Word STARTUP folder is. By default it's C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP. Any template in that folder is automatically loaded as an add-in each time Word starts. After closing Word, use My Computer to go to that folder (you may need to click Tools Folder Options View and select the "Show hidden files and folders" option, since the Application Data folder and everything under it are hidden folders). You should see the add-ins there, as files with .dot extensions. Delete them or move them to any other folder, and restart Word. If you don't see a particular add-in in that folder, it might be in another location, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP or the equivalent for your Office version; or it might be a "COM add-in" that you can find by using the steps in http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...514521033.aspx. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. wrote: How do I permanently delete add-ins?
