Inconsistent hyperlink behaviour
Prior to meetings a copy of the agenda is drawn up and posted for attendees
on our fileserver. Following the meeting, documents are produced with the minutes for each item discussed (10 items = 10 docs). These are maintained in a (fairly!) well managed folder structure. Our intention is to add hyperlinks under each item to the corresponding minutes document, so users only ever have one document to refer to. The problem comes when we try to update the agenda. When users click on the link the document trys (and fails) to open using IE, unless you were the creator of the document, in which case it opens in Word. We've checked permissions, configured the file associations as per Microsoft's recommendations to force the app to be used rather than IE, made sure settings on all the PCs match, tried it using different users, all to no avail. Only the user that created the agenda document gets linked documents opening in Word. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please!? |
