I am trying to create tables within Word but cannot select rounded corners.

Thumbs up Answer: How do I put rounded corners on tables?

Yes, you can definitely add rounded corners to tables in Microsoft Word. Here's how you can do it:
  1. First, create a table in Word by going to the "Insert" tab and selecting "Table". Choose the number of rows and columns you need for your table.
  2. Once your table is created, select it by clicking anywhere inside the table. You should see a "Table Tools" tab appear at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Design" tab under "Table Tools". Here, you'll see a "Table Styles" section with various pre-designed table styles.
  4. Click on the "Borders" drop-down menu and select "Borders and Shading" at the bottom of the menu.
  5. In the "Borders and Shading" dialog box, select the "Borders" tab. Under "Settings", choose the type of border you want to apply to your table.
  6. Under "Preview", you'll see a section called "Art". Click on the drop-down menu and select a border style that has rounded corners. You can also customize the size and color of the border.
  7. Once you've selected your border style, click "OK" to apply it to your table.

That's it! Your table should now have rounded corners. You can adjust the border style and size as needed by going back to the "Borders and Shading" dialog box.

Have you tried putting a drawing item with rounded corners around the table
instead of using a border?

No I haven't but I will give that a try. I was hoping that there was a option
in one of the format menus which would automatically do this. Thanks.

Step by step:

1. Create a rounded-corner box (go to Autoshapes in the menu on the lefthand side of the screen, select Basic Shapes, and then the oval rectangle, first on the second row)

2. Place it at the top of the space you want to enclose. Adjust its depth until the corners are of the radius you require.

3. Go to the format menu, pick 'format autoshape' and adjust its colour, point size etc; then go into the layout menu there and choose 'none' for the text-wrap

4. Copy it and place the duplicate at the foot of the space you want to enclose.

5. Draw lines of the same point size and colour (and also non-text-wrap) between the two boxes, one on the left and one on the right.

6. Create a rectangle inside the area to cover the horizontal lines you dont want to see. (fill with background colour, make it non-text-wrap, etc)

7. Create a text box with no line border and superimpose it on the area. Type in your words. There you are.

8. You can do this repeatedly and get all your boxes, whatever size, with the same radius rounded corners.

9. Sssssimple? It took a looooong time to suss out!!
