Close the document. Select it in a Windows Explorer window and press
Shift+Delete. -- Suzanne S. Deleting the document in Windows Explorer only marks the hard disk space it
occupied as free. It does not actually delete the file. Some programs can recover documents deleted by Windows Explorer. To get rid of the file, you have to use a program which overwrites the space it occupied with other data. There are many programs which will do this. You can do a Google search for "secure deletion", but I cannot be certain that all the programs actually do what they say (how would I know if I did not write them myself?). Some deletion tools are free, some cost. There is a tool called TuneUp Shredder, which is included with TuneUp Utilities. See http://www.tune-up.com for a free trial (the full program suite costs $40). You can also have a look at http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/download.php to download Eraser, which is free. Windows may also write parts of your document to the paging file. It may be possible that this is not overwritten by other data. I have heard that even if you overwrite the file, it may be possible for special programs to recover the data. It may therefore be hard to completely get rid of a file. -- Kristoffer Andreas Berg Programmer on a hobby basis http://home.online.no/~gunnarab "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: Close the document.
