Default Inserting hyperlinks into documents kept in shared folders.

I have a user who wants to add hyperlinks to a set of documents that are
stored in a shared directory we will call it A. The documents that the
hyperlinks will point to are stored in a different share B. When I try to
link them either thru UNC or there mapped drive letters they work fine till I
close out the document then when I open it back up the hyperlinks do not
work. What am i missing as far as putting hyperlinks into documents stored on
network storage.

In "My Computer", under "Network Drives", you will see something like
ShareName on 'ServerName' (I
Suppose you normally refer to the file as I:\Folder1\File1.txt
Then the hyperlink address should be
\\ServerName\ShareName\\Folder1\File1.txt
Did that fix the problem?

It was actually this

In Word 2003, go to Tools, Options, click the General Tab, click the Web
Options button on the bottom, click the Files tab on the box that opens up,
and UNCHECK "Update links on save" (thrid checkbox under File names and
locations).
