I'd like to write text in Word diagonally. How do I do it?

- Usualy watermarks are shown diagonally. If that is what you want, look up
the help files re watermarks.
-Another solution is to insert a WordArt object: you can show text
diagonally but it does not look very professional.
-Use a text box if you want to show text upside down or upside up.
- Embed and Excel sheet: Excel allows you to show text diagonally.

The use of WordArt is the only way, except from making your text a graphic
first.

This doesn't work in Word. PowerPoint textboxes can show text upside down;
but not Word's.

Switch the Tables & Borders OR the Text Box toolbar on & use the icon(s):
should be visible when the toolbar is visible.

PS: updise down & upside up is also available for text in tables.

No, it doesn't. Text can be rotated 90° to the left or right in a text
box or table cell, but not 180° unless the text is converted to a graphic.

Aren't you talking about showing the text upside down i.e the mirror image? I
was talking about the text shown in a vertical line with the first character
either as the first or the last character in the pile.

To me, "upside down" and "mirror image" are not the same thing, but
anyway... I and Jezebel and the original poster are talking about
rotating text, while you are talking about something else.

Perhaps you should read the subject line more closely. As Garfield says,
Word can do 90 degrees left or right. It can't do upside down or mirror,
and -- relevant to the OP -- it can't do diagonal (ie 45 degrees).
