My text boxes will change sizes after I close and re-open my document, or
will "wander" on the page--how can I get them to stay the same size, and in the same position? |

To prevent a text box from moving, make sure to clear the "Move object
with text" option in the Advanced Layout dialog box (Format | Text Box, click the Layout tab, click the Advanced button). You can set the desired position of the text box relative to page edges or margins. Note, however, that a text box will always be on the same page as its anchor. Therefore, you cannot tie it to a particular page (even though you can specify an exact position of the text box on the page where it ends up). You can lock an anchor to prevent it from being moved by accident (the "Lock anchor" option in the Advanced Layout dialog box). See also: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/DrwGrphcs/Anchors.htm and http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/DrwGrphcs/PosRelToPage.htm I can't explain why the boxes change sizes, though. If this happens in a particular document, or in documents created from a particular template, you might want to check for corruption.
