Default word 2000 crashed

HEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP.....
DONE VERY IMPORTANT DOCUMENT ON WORD AND WENT TO TEOSAURUS AND NOW EGG TIMER
CAME UP AND SAYS NOT RESPONDING WHAT CAN I DO TO SAVE WHAT IVE DONE SO FAR
CLOSE REOPEN AND CARRY ON?

Nothing, unfortunately, if you didn't save your work regularly. If this is Word
2002 or 2003 Word may have performed a backup at some point and present you
with what it's able to recover when you restart.
