Greyed out tools in Microsoft Word 2003, Prof. Edition
Most items in the tool bar of Word (and Access and Outlook) are greyed
out...eg I cannot copy and paste. This problem has suddenly appeared with no obvious trigger. I have tried Detect and Repair to no avail. I have also tried System Restore .. but it tells me it cannot be restored! What can I do please? PS I am not an "expert" ! |

Do you get any error message (in the status bar, for example) when you try?

It sounds as if you have a trial copy that has expired, or a regular copy
that wasn't activated. What do you see when you choose Help - Activate Product? -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "Chatterer" wrote in message ... The question (which you haven't answered) was, "What do you see?" If the
copy has been activated, you should get a message to that effect. If it hasn't, you'll get the activation dialog. Unless it's a trial copy that has expired, in which case you should be getting a message (somewhere) that the action is not allowed because the document is locked for editing. How and when did you acquire Office 2003? Did it come installed on a new computer acquired recently? If so, it is almost certainly a trial version. -- Suzanne S.
