Default document retrieval

I amended documents in Word and did not save. The anti virus restarted the
computer to enable updates. The documents returned to their original form.
How do I retreive the amended documents ?

You would do better starting a new thread rather than adding to one from
July- however if you didn't save your document there is nothing to recover.
Do not allow software to automatically reboot your PC!

It's showing as a new thread for me (no References: header). It's a quirk of
OE that it joins unrelated threads with the same subject line.

Unfortunately, if you didn't save it, it's gone. This is why we constantly
advise users to save early and often and never leave an unsaved document
open when leaving the computer. As Graham says, it's also wise, if you have
a choice, not to let Automatic Updates run in full automatic mode.
