Default Select All feature to remove styles

When I select the drop-down arrow next to my Heading 2, I don't have the
option to Select All in order to clear the formatting. Instead it has Select
All: Not Currently Used and it's grayed out. I do have Heading 2 applied
throughout the document.

Why is this option grayed out and not available?

Check the box for "Keep track of formatting" on the Edit tab of Tools |
Options.
