toc format keeps changing
I've created a doc and have inserted the TOC and it works fine. However when
I close it and re-open it, the format of the TOC reverts back to TEMPLATE, when I had saved it as FORMAL. Thanks... Barb |

toc format keeps changing
The reason is that the TOC options presented in the dialog box does
not reflect what is applied to an existing table of contents; it just shows you the default settings. This is true not only for the formatting of TOC entries, but also for settings such as the styles to be included in the TOC. When you pick a TOC format, Word modifies the TOC styles for the current document to match that format. Instead of selecting a TOC format, you can manually modify the TOC styles to suit your needs. See the article at http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm, especially the "Controlling how the TOC looks" section. To re-use a TOC format (whether you chose a built-in one or created it yourself), you can save the document as a template, and create documents based on that template. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Barb" wrote in message ...
