In word when I highlight a sentance or a paragrap and try to delete using the
delet button I cannot dlete it - nothing happens - I can only backspace to
delete or cut

Can anyone set me straight?

In Tools Options Edit, check the option "Typing replaces
selection".

Well, you could delete by typing Y (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...eleteText.htm). On the General
tab of Tools | Options, clear the check boxes for both options that refer to
WordPerfect.
