You can set the default tab space to 0.5cm in the FormatTabs dialog. While
that is not exactly what you asked, it might suffice. Even after doing that however, when you use the mouse alone to insert a tab stop, it will default to 0.63cm. Holding down the Alt key at the same time as you click with the mouse will allow you to insert the tab at other than the 0.63cm spacing, but even then, it is extremely difficult to set the stops at exactly 0.5cm spacing. Even if I increase the zoom to 500%, sometimes the best I can do is plus or minus 0.01cm. Even holding down the Alt key and dragging a tab stop, I have a lot of trouble setting one at 0.5cm. It jumps from 0.49cm to 0.52cm. The only way to get it exact is to use the FormatTabs dialog. -- Hope this helps. I have a little idea to do it faster every time you write a new document.
1. Click Tools - Options - click General tab - change the Measurement units to Centimeters. 2. Click Format - Tabs - change the Default Tab Stops to 0.5cm. 3. Here is the trick. Click File - Save As - type a File Name like "MyTabs" and under save as type choose "Document Template". Click Save. 4. Next Time, whenever you like to use those tabs in new document click File - New - choose MyTabs (your template). The default tab stop will be 0.5cm automatically. You can use this time for every new document. Hope this give a little speed to your work, let us know! You may need to adjust the Drawing Grid since it controls the "snap
to" on the ruler. - Turn on the Drawing toolbar - Under the Draw menu click Grid - In the Grid settings section change the Horizontal spacing. Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Hi,
For a more permanent solution, edit the normal template file (File, open Trusted Templates, open normal.dotm) and then set the tab and grid options directly in the normal template file and save. That's the only way I could get Word (2007) to retain my changed tab and grid settings. Regards, Arnold "RajKohli" wrote: I have a little idea to do it faster every time you write a new document. 1.
