Default In a Word 2003, check boxes disappear when exiting design mode

In a Word 2003 document, I inserted some check boxes from the control toolbox
toolbar. After much editing, some are moved to places I don't want them.
I can't delete them because when I enter design mode, they disappear. When I
exit design mode, they reappear, but all I can do is check them. I can't
select and delete them.

One of the problems is most likely that in ToolsOptionsView there is no
check in the box for Drawings - Check Boxes are graphic objects & won't
display if that box isn't checked.

The second problem is that you are using the Control Toolbox Active-X
Controls which most probably *not* what you need. Try using the Forms
Toolbar instead.

The box for Drawings was checked. Unchecking it had no affect on the
behaviour described. I'd be happy to not use Active-X controls, but as I
said, I can't seem to delete them....thanks for the suggestions!
