Default how to add item to table of contents

I know how to create a table of contents. I ma using a layout showing
articles and sections beneath the articles. However, i have items BEFORE the
articles begin (Itroduction, Defined Terms, etc) which I would like to appear
int the TOC. Any help would be appreciated.

Default how to add item to table of contents

If the heading paragraph has been assigned an outline level (Format |
Paragraph), it will appear in the TOC. See
