Hi All!
I am running into strange word file open issue. Please help with some ideas. Problem: We have the default location of the documents set to F drive by going into tools and Options and then file locations. When we open a document from the folder deep within the F drive, and after a short while we hit the file open again in the same word window, without closing the document, it shows other documents from the same folder. And thats what we like. Now for some reason, after some time, when I am working on a documentA in the F:\mydocs\issues\word folder, and I hit the file open again to show other documents within in the folder, it takes me all the way out to the F: drive. And I have to click all the subfolders again to get to where I was at. We have XP SP2 with Word 2000 patched. Please provide some ideas. Thanks. |

G'Day Bell,
Are you using Microsoft (Office) Outlook with Word as it's editor? If so creating/editing an e-mail (with a separate copy of Word left open) may affect 'current' Folder settings in the standalone copy of Word. -- Regards, Pat Garard Melbourne, Australia _______________________ "bell" wrote in message ... Hi Pat!
Thank you for the reply. But, no I am not using Word as the editor for Outlook. I do have outlook for exchange email, but I just checked it again and no, not using Word as email editor. Please give some more ideas. Thanks. Mansoor. "Pat Garard" wrote: G'Day Bell, Are you using Microsoft (Office) Outlook with Word as it's editor? Hi Bell!
Really no other bright ideas (unless another application is opening a hidden copy of Word). I presume that "F:" is a network drive which "could" give this problem if there were transient network problems - but that is an area with which I am unfamiliar. -- Regards, Pat Garard Melbourne, Australia _______________________ "bell" wrote in message ... Hi Pat!
Thanks for your reply. I have tested the same thing with pointing to a folder on the C: root drive as the default document folder. And openeing another Document from "my documents" folder or so. Still after some time the "file open" switches back to "C:" instead of staying in my document. If you think of anything let me know. I am looking into other applications that can hit winword at times. Thanks again for your help. "Pat Garard" wrote: Hi Bell!
