I'm looking at an old Word template created long ago by someone no longer in
our office. The paragraph/line spacing of the body is set to exactly 24pt which creates a 12pt space above every line of text. However, when the text runs onto a second (or third or fourth...) page, the formatting remains 24pt and yet Word ignores the space for the first line on the page and butts the text right up against the header margin as if it were 12pt spacing. All subsequent lines on the page show up with the 24pt spacing. The question is, how can I duplicate this magical phenomenon in a newly created document? Thanks, Michael |

In Tools Options Compatibility, check the option for "Suppress
extra line spacing at top of page". I don't know what's the difference, if any, between that one and the next, "Suppress extra line spacing at the top of page like Word 5.x for the Mac". Their descriptions at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=288792 are identical. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. Thanks to both of you for answering. Yes, that is the solution, I simply
didn't expect to find it under Options. Thanks again, Michael |
