Blank Page Shows Up
I have a document that the general manager of our company is screaming for.
The document is divided into three sections. The last section looks great on screen, but when I print it or view the Print Preview, a blank page shows up at the front of that section. I'm using { PAGE } of { SECTIONPAGES } for my page numbering in the last section. There are only supposed to be two pages in that section, but the pages print as blank, 1 of 3, and 2 of 3. They look fine on screen. I have searched for hidden page breaks, and there are none. I've reset the section break to make sure it's set to next page. I've searched for anything formatted as "Page Break Before" or "Keep with Next ¶," but there isn't anything. When I set the section break to Continuous, the extra page disappears, and the heading for the last section appears after the last line of the preceding section. But then when I re-set it back to Next Page, the mystery page shows back up again. Can anybody help me before my manager rips my head off? I like my head where it is. Fred |

Blank Page Shows Up
If you have given Word reason to believe you will be duplexing the document
(by using "Mirror margins" or "Different odd and even" header/footer), it will not let you put an odd page number on a verso (left-hand, even-numbered) page. The result is that your "Next Page" break turns into an "Odd Page" break, and a blank even page is inserted before it (and after it, before the next section). The problem is that if you are using { PAGE } of { SECTIONPAGES }, Word counts every page after the section break (including the blank one) as part of the section, even though your section actually begins at page 1 on the next page. There actually is not anything you can do about this, I'm afraid, except to create the preceding blank page manually, as part of the preceding section or a separate section of its own. -- Suzanne S. Blank Page Shows Up
No, the preceding section does not contain a table. It's just plain text.
There are no paragraph breaks that would cause a blank page. The preceding section ends in the middle of a page, with no only one paragraph break between the last paragraph of text and the section break. I managed to make it "look right" by setting the page numbering on the last section to start at 0, and then deleting the blank page from the PDF, but the Word file still isn't right. Thanks, Fred "CyberTaz" wrote: Is there a Table at the end of the preceding section, by any chance? Blank Page Shows Up
That's a very real possibility, since this document was originally created by
a lunatic who added lots of other blank pages so she could print it duplex and still have each Heading 1 section start on a left-hand page. I'll check that possibility when I get back to work tomorrow. I sweet-talked the boss into letting me keep my head for another day. Thanks for your help! Fred "Suzanne S. That did the trick. "Mirror Margins" was checked. I un-checked it, and my
mystery page disappeared. "Suzanne S.
