Good Morning everyone,

This will probably be easy to the experts here.
When I open a new text box, it opens a rather large box that says
"Insert Picture here". How can I change this so that it just opens a
plain old text box with nothing in it? Thanks.

In Tools Options General, uncheck "Automatically create drawing canvas
when inserting AutoShapes". (Word's text boxes are a particular type of
AutoShape.)
