Default Use auto text or Macros?

I'm not sure how to do this?

I created a word document and would like to assign a reference number that
increases sequentially each time the document is opened. i.e. 2007-1 and
the next time i open the document, it would read 2007-2, 2007-3 etc.

is this possible?
help!
