Default Tabs settings to next line.

A question in two parts:

1. Every so often when I have a short list in a letter that has two
columns, I set tabs. Off and on when I need to add a name the tab settings
will not carry down, why does this happen?

2. Sometimes when I change my mind and backspace the return out the font
enlarges, why does this happen?

Thank you.

Hi ?B?RGlhbmUgUi4=?=,

Which version of Word are we discussing, here?

Are you using bullets or numbering with these lists, by any chance?

Hi ?B?RGlhbmUgUi4=?=,

I have Word 2002 SP3 and no, I am not using bullets.

In that case, my inclination is to say that the style is changing, although you
ought to see that when you create the list, not just at a later point. Unless
you've changed the "style for next paragraph" in the style definition.

Difficult to say what else might be causing it, although it could be something in
AutoFormat as You Type.

Hmm. Are you copying anything in these lists from another source?

No. I'm actually trying to add another name into the middle of the list.
