Default how to index a document with page and line number?

I need to index a document in more detail than just the page number. Is
there a way to refrence the line also?

Not with Word's built-in index facilities. It could probably be done
with a macro to build the index. The complexity would depend on how
many features you require, such as indented subentries, "See Also"
entries, and alphabetic separators.
