Dear Microsoft Word 2007 designers,

Two ideas:

1) Right-clicking to add diacritical marks or special letters/characters
would be a helpful feature to add. For example, the user could select the
letter(s) that they want to modify, right-click on it, then find a
'diacritical modifier' or a 'insert special characters' function in the
pop-up window. Then they could select from a graphic list of diacritical
marks and special characters(letters) that they want to use.

This would be especially helpful for students when citing references that
that are in unfamiliar languages. For example, sometimes there are authors
from multiple countries with special characters in their names. It would be
a chore to install a font for the language of each author when it is not
justified by frequent use.

2) A font wizard should be built into Microsoft Word 2007. For some people,
if there is not an idiot proof wizard built into a software program, then
they just wait until the desired new features are included in the product.
Such is the case with diacritical marks and special characters when working
with Microsoft word. For many people, I imagine, going back and forth to
figure out how to insert diacritical marks and special characters into a word
document is just too frustrating to bother with. Why not help them out and
extend people's ability to use the written word?

The bottom line: make doing such things more user friendly.
