Am I just missing something or has the ability to scan in pictures/documents
taken a step backwards in 2007 Word? In Word 2003 I could select "Edit | Insert | Picture" and then chose my scanner as the source for any documents or pictures I wanted to scan in. 2007 Word does not appears to support the same capability. I finally found the scanning under the clip art organizer, but it does not appear to work. Did I just overlook some new enhanced capability that I by change did not install or have overlooked? |

It has been removed in 2007. You'll need to use Windows or your
scanner's software to do this with 2007. Thanks Patrick,
[SIGH] I was hoping that was not what was going to hear, but I really did not have a lot of hope. Although that feature is obsure, the lack of it just added about 20 minutes more to what I'd found a time-saving task. Personally, I don't think removing that feature made a lot of since, but then who am I to complain. "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote in message ... It has been removed in 2007. Lack of use in 2003 combined with the feature not supporting a big
enough spectrum of scanners and cameras. MS had to make a choice between investing resources to make it better or dropping it. The lack of use as recorded by the 2003 usage statistics let MS to drop it. Hi Wesley,
There are a few workarounds. You can use MS Office Document Scanning and create a preset with a shortcut, or you can create a custom Toolbar (not modify an existing one) in an older version of Word and put the Insert=From Scanner or Camera command on it using Tools=Customize=Commands, then save that document or template and open it/apply it in Word 2007 and the Scanner command will work from the Word 2007 add-ins menu; or you can use the scanner software's 'send to' feature' as another workaround. If you're using MS Office Picture Manager you can also select pictures saved on your PC (often smaller files than going directly from the scanner) and right click=Send to to put the graphic(s) directly into a specific Word document. =================== "Wesley Peace" wrote in message ...
