Default Smart quotes showing up as symbols ...

We have Word 2003 and so does our client. When we send her documents using
smart quotes and apostrophes, the quotes and apostrophes are replaced with
symbols. I would expect this if we were sending her a document with an
unusual font, but we aren't - the document is in Times New Roman. Any ideas
on what might be happening on her end that's causing the problem?

The usual cause of this is documents that originated in WordPerfect, where
the WP Typographic Symbols font is used for quotation marks, apostrophes,
dashes, and the like. If that font is installed on your machine, try moving
it out of the Fonts folder and see what happens to the document on your end.
If you also see these symbols, then you will know that is the reason, and
you will need to use Find and Replace to replace the symbols with the
correct ones.

Thanks. The template of the document *did* originate from WordPerfect.
