I plugged in my flash drive and for some reason, everything is locked and I
can't make any changes to ANY word documents. I didn't intentionally lock
anything. When I try to type in changes it says document is locked on the
task bar.

Assuming that this is not a trial version of Word and that it has been
activated, it is probably a security measure - removable media are the major
cause of document corruption. Copy the file(s) to your hard drive and open
them from there.
